Heping District is located in the northeastern corner of Taichung City, covering an area of 1,037.8192 square kilometers, making it the largest administrative district in the city. It is divided into eight villages: Pingdeng, Lishan, Bo’ai, Tianlun, Nanshi, Zhongkeng, Ziyou, and Daguang.

Surrounded by mountains, Heping District is home to the Atayal indigenous people. To the north, it is bordered by the Xueshan Mountain Range, while to the south are Hehuanshan and Dayuling. The district borders Yilan County and Hualien County to the east, and the northwestern corner faces Miaoli County across the Daan River. The area is rich in lush mountains and rivers, with forests covering much of the land. The climate is cool and pleasant, and the landscape changes with the seasons, each offering its own charm. The majestic mountains and rivers here are unparalleled in Taiwan, and the area is a well-known summer retreat, often praised as the “Eastern Switzerland” for its breathtaking scenery.
