While preserving and promoting Hakka culture, the Jhutian Township Office in Pingtung County actively integrates cultural industries to revitalize the local economy. By fostering collaboration among the public sector, private enterprises, and academic institutions, Jhutian strengthens local identity, shares the town’s unique way of life, and continuously promotes its culture and tourism beyond the township’s borders. With a core spirit rooted in deep connections between people and land, Jhutian is committed to building a friendly environment that encourages harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, while striking a balance between traditional culture and modern development.
In 2020, Jhutian Township drew inspiration from the successful experience of the International Cittaslow Assembly. Through the “Slow Travel Jhutian Cittaslow Festival,” the township shared its model of local governance, aspiring to make the voice of Jhutian Cittaslow heard both domestically and internationally. By integrating tourism marketing throughout the township, Jhutian actively promotes the concepts of “slow food, slow travel, and slow living,” gradually becoming a model town and steadily advancing toward the goal of becoming an international Cittaslow.
