Since its establishment, the Cittaslow Taiwan Alliance has been committed to promoting a people-centered Cittaslow philosophy. Through environmental protection, the development of local culture, and the practice of sustainable economics, it has gradually fostered a more livable, enjoyable, and work-friendly slow-living environment. As urbanization rapidly progresses, cities around the world face increasing environmental pressure and a quickening pace of life. In this context, the values of Cittaslow are becoming increasingly precious, offering an important path for balancing quality of life and economic development.

This year’s forum will be held in Chihshang Township, Taitung County. Renowned for its beautiful natural scenery and culturally rich rural landscapes, Chihshang has long been famous for its rice production. By blending this agricultural heritage with local humanistic values, it has gradually become a sought-after destination for slow travel among both domestic and international visitors. With abundant ecological resources, harmonious agricultural vistas, and outstanding achievements in community building, Chihshang perfectly embodies the core values of Cittaslow. Moreover, the township successfully obtained international Cittaslow certification in June of this year, further highlighting its suitability as the host of this annual forum.

The 5th Cittaslow Forum not only gathers experts and scholars from Taiwan and abroad to explore the multifaceted theme of “Sustainable Living and Slow-Living Culture,” but also provides a platform for attendees to exchange experiences and share successful practices and innovative ideas. Through this forum, we hope to inspire more cities to balance economic growth with environmental protection, ultimately creating a healthier, more comfortable, and culturally rich way of life—and providing direction for the cities of the future.
