While preserving and promoting Hakka culture, the Jhutian Township Office in Pingtung County actively integrates cultural industries to revitalise the local economy, builds up local identity through cooperation between the government, industry and academia, shares the characteristics of life in the township, and continuously promotes local culture and tourism to the outside world. With the spirit of ‘people and land’ as its core, Jhutian Township is committed to building a friendly environment and promoting the harmonious coexistence of people and land, while striking a balance between traditional culture and modern civilisation.
In 2020, Jhutian Township will take advantage of the successful experience of the International Slow City Conference to share its model of urban governance, and expects to make Jhutian Slow City known both domestically and internationally through the organisation of the ‘Slow Travel Jhutian Fun Festival’. By integrating the town’s tourism marketing, Jhutian Township will actively promote the concept of ‘Slow Food, Slow Tourism, Slow Life’, and will gradually become a model township, moving steadily towards the goal of becoming an international slow city.
